Your product starts as an idea. If you have an industrial designer sketch, a napkin drawing or just an idea in your head- let us help productize your vision
Prototyping will put your vision into your hands as soon as possible, let us help make your prototypes in our house prototype lab.
Drawings are a critical element in the success of your product. When product refinement is complete, we can help you create your drawing package and specifications
Will your parts be strong enough? Will your parts fit properly together?
Do your parts meet specifications?
We can help!
Selecting the right vendor is critical for managing your cost and achieving your desired quality. We have a worldwide network of manufacturing partners.
Verifying your product works as desired, and will endure operation and handling of your customer is vital. Let us help you develop and execute a qualification plan.
We have over 25 years of experience productizing designs. We are well versed in all manufacturing process methods and ideal process selection. Our designs are created in Solidworks and we provide you with all native files to you should you desire to take on the management of the product yourself. Our experience in design and processes yield designs that are functional and stylish. We know the limits of manufacturing processes and push them to further your design. We are experts in CNC machining, sheet metal, injection molding, extrusion, casting processes, mechanism designs, and creative assembly techniques. This experience will help rapidly get your product to fruition. Cost reduction is also a specialty of ours, you may have a design that is in production and selling well, but you need to lower costs to achieve margins. We can help- we have a track record of saving over $300 million in vendor costs.
We are experienced in mechanical and optical aspects of consumer electronics, displays, eyewear, automation tooling, and toys/gadgets, We can do limited electrical and coding as needed in house, for more complicated electrical and coding projects we will coordinate work with our partners as required.
We have in house 3D printing capabilities with large size and fine resolution plastic part fabrication to have the ability to turn around fast prototypes for you to get a sense of the feel of your design as soon as possible. This prototyping ability gives you the ability to refine your design to fine tune it exactly how you want it without the expense of costly and timely manufacturing runs.
Sometimes 3D printing isn't suitable for a prototype. We have an in house fabrication shop with NC mills and large bed CNC routers for fast turn parts as well a network of manufacturers for more complicated parts. We can often design and fabricate parts before a machine shop can provide a quotation.
Many of our projects require electronics with motion control and software. We can provide integrated control systems for your one stop shop if your product or test fixture requires stepper motors, limit and detection switches, user interface controls and displays. Above are some fixtures we designed, built and also provided control hardware and software for.
Your drawing is a contract. It is critical to properly convey the requirements that you need to your manufacturing partner. Proper geometric tolerancing and datum structure is its own language and only mastered with experience. Proper tolerancing requires a working knowledge of the design intent of the part and assembly, the manufacturing processes, knowledge of the drafting standard, and how all of this would impact the design sigma and performance of a tolerance analysis study. Your design is important, but proper tolerancing is important as well to ensure your parts fit together properly and function as desired. Your drawings also conveys to your supplier what features are critical, which are not, what features need to be linked together for fit, and how to measure the part. Proper dimensioning and tolerancing can help your supplier produce more parts at a lower price, while still achieving the required quality level.
Proper engineering drawings is one of our core expertise. Let us help you with you create your drawings, or we can also help teach you proper theory and drawing execution
How will your design perform? This is always a question that makes a designer nervous. There are many ways to mitigate these fears. Having design experience and seeing things that have worked and not worked in the past go a long way in getting the desired result sooner than later, but other methods are still advised.
FEA- We can help you do FEA to predict if your parts will be strong enough, or are they too strong and you are using excess material? We can perform these analysis for you.
Tolerance analysis- We are experts in RSS tolerance analysis methods. This method takes your assembly assumptions, nominal clearances, and tolerances and can predict the occurrences of improperly functioning or fitting parts.
Selecting the correct manufacturing partner is a daunting task. Luckily we have worked with numerous manufacturing partners across the globe and know their quality and capabilities. We also have affiliates who are nearby the manufacturers and can be onsite to manage quality, as well as manage logistics and communication.
Your ideal supplier depends on your volumes, quality requirements, budget, and where you are shipping your product to. The China tariff situation may make other countries more attractive. China may still be the right solution for your product, but there are quality risks and scam companies that require site visits or past relationships to validate their reputation. Your ideal supplier may actually be domestically, or in a more tariff neutral country like Korea or Taiwan. There are many factors that go into selecting your vendor- let us help!
Before releasing your product, its best to create a test plan and execute it. A test plan should simulate real world (or slightly excessive) scenarios that your product should be able to withstand. Can your product handle extreme heat and humidity or freezing temperatures? Can your packaging withstand mishandling during shipping? Can your product handle being dropped by the customer? Does your product perform to your own product specifications? Need an ongoing quality management program with your vendors or at assembly? Does your product need certification and markings like FCC, UL, CE?
We have a history of bringing products from infancy to production, along the way a test plan should be created and executed to a set of determined requirements. We have significant experience in understanding what kind of issues a product withstands from the real world, and we know how to create and execute a test plan to predict acceptance. Its better to find an issue in development than to experience a recall event or onslaught of customer returns after product release.
